Favorite Local Activities
The Cuchara Valley is rural and the nearby towns fairly small. However, there are no lack of things to do and places to experience! Below are some of our local favorite things to do and see.
Cuchara Village activities
There are several lovely gift shops in Cuchara Village
The Bear Den gift shop also has mini golf. Facebook link
The Dog Bar is a long time favorite with locals and visitors alike. Bring your favorite furry family member and eat and drink on their patio!
The Yacht Club is new and quickly becoming another local favorite. They have light food, drinks and a big outdoor area often with music.
Cuchara Mountain Park Area activities
We LOVE the Cuchara Mountain Park, formerly the Cuchara Ski resort! This park is a work in progress, so look up the latest on Facebook
The park has a terrific 18 hole frisbee golf course! Links here for course maps - Holes 1-9 and Holes 10-18
One of our favorite activities is an old refurbished mini golf course from the '90s! Bring your own clubs, golf balls - and camera!
And of course there are trails for hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, sledding and self-powered down hill skiing!
La Veta Area activities
Shopping / Drinking / Art / Music Venue: Shout out to the La Veta Mercantile... our favorite space! Another favorite is the Deer Print Bistro.
Main Street shopping and then stop by Charlie's Market for a snack at their ice cream sundae bar
Shopping / Art Galleries: La Veta has many artists in residence - and several lovely art galleries as a result. Shout out to Shalawalla for offering Batik classes.
Museum / Library: The La Veta library is amazing! located in an old house, and near the Francisco Fort Museum - we highly recommend a stop by!
